MIT Provost, and Warren K. Lewis Professor Department of Chemical Engineering

Robert A. Brown is the Provost at MIT and the Warren K. Lewis Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering.

He received the B.S. and the M.S. from the University of Texas at Austin, and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. His many honors and awards include membership in the National Academy of Sciences, the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, and the National Academy of Engineering. Professor Brown's research interests include Newtonian and Non-Newtonian Fluid Mechanics, Solidification Theory and Defect Formation in Crystalline Solids, and Applied Mathematics and Numerical Analysis.
